Portsmouth make request to sell players
Financially troubled Portsmouth have made a request to the English Premier League for permission to sell players outside the transfer window.
The club has confirmed: “We have put in a request to the Premier League to sell players outside the transfer window.”
There is currently two transfer windows per year in England, commencing 1 January to 31 January and also from 1 June to 31 August.
The Pompey Club, who are believed to be about £60m in debt, have not identified any specific players for sale.
Portsmouth are eight points from safety in the top flight and their players have been paid late on four occasions this season.
Guus Hiddink appointed Turkey’s manager
Guus Hiddink has been appointed Turkey’s new manager when his contract with Russia expires on 30 June.
He will be stepping down from the Russia post after failing to qualify for the World Cup in South Africa.
He has agreed to a twoyear deal with Turkey with the option of two more and will take control from 1 August.
Guus Hiddink has also managed Real Madrid, Chelsea, as well as National teams such as South Korea, Netherlands and Australia.
The Turkish Football Federation met Mr Hiddink in Amsterdam on (Tuesday) and agreed on a deal of four years, of which two years will be optional.
It had been rumoured that Mr Hiddink was a potential successor to Shaibu Amodu, the Nigerian coach who was sacked earlier this month .
